weeknotes 11
from may 24 to 30, 2026
hello, friends.
i realized that up until this week i didn't have an rss reader. or i did, but then forgot about it. i have been manually looking up blogs i often read to see new posts. which isn't bad, per se. it makes reading them slow and intentional. but i also miss out on most posts. anyway, i just want to say i finally got an rss reader (again)!
this week i also changed my blog color palette. i think i will be tweaking it some more to emphasize boldfaced texts.
i also attended my friends' oath taking ceremony this week and it made me miss them and working inside a laboratory so much more.
also, i spent a lot of time this week trying really hard to think about what to write for this month's bear carnival prompt. at the very last minute, i thought about writing about the challenger deep. but it's now almost 10 pm local time :') maybe tomorrow i'll be able to publish and we all pretend i made it on time!
have a nice week ahead!
media i've consumed this week:
- blogs
- an ode to the split diopter
- here's to friends (old and new)
- my trousers exploded at a wedding // absolutely loved their writing
- make a list of everything you hate about your life
- books
- do androids dream of electric sheep? - philip k. dick1 // ongoing
- film
- forbidden fruits (2026) dir. meredith alloway // lili reinhart ate that monologue, 2 stars
- hamilton (2020) dir. thomas kail // watched in the background while i was crafting leather folio orders, 5 stars!!
- rosemary's baby (1968) dir. roman polanski2 // ongoing. i decided to check it out after reading about it from monsters: a fan's dilemma by claire dederer
- games
- stardew valley // finally on year 2 on my current save!
- music
- the first two pages of frankenstein - the national
- carrie & lowell - sufjan stevens
- the rise and fall of a midwest princess - chappell roan
- scientific papers
- tv
- the bear season 2
new things i've tried:
- cheese mi goreng (i forgot to ask the brand bc my mom prepared it) // weird? not bad, also not the best. very ginger-y. it tasted very healthy for a cheese instant noodle.
- pilot iroshizuku tsukushi // i had to accept that my favorite diamine ink (writer's blood) is too wet for my hobonichi. i tried the safest option of putting pilot ink on my pilot fountain pen. i couldn't find a writer's blood alternative so i picked up two different shades of brown instead: tsukushi and yama-guri. the former was already discontinued but i tried to get a sampler anyway and loaded it first in my pen. in the first few tries, it looked like coffee stain (in a positive way). but then the ink finally went down the barrel and it got darker. i haven't tried the yama-guri yet but based on the swatches online, it was supposed to be darker than the tsukushi. excited to try it out next!
- macao imperial tea cheesecake cocoa
- starbucks pink drink with strawberry acai // too acidic for me
- coco lemon with yakult slush // liked it! lowkey tastes like sore throat, but that's a yakult drink for ya
